I started with Rock of the Month and have been slowly chipping away at it for a couple of weeks. We still need to install this month's rock, which I am waiting for my friend to give me, but it will all be put together before the alumni visit this weekend.
Here is before:

| Before shot. Though we changed the rock for September to the geode, before that the rock had not been changed in 4 yrs. |
Here is after:

| Unlit display case, which with the glass reduced the glare from the light. |

I am glad that my friend Super Chic helped me out with this today, because it was the only thing good that happened today.

I like it and for it being the only good thing, it's a pretty cool good thing. Chin up.
Thanks. One of the professors gave me the original map I modified, and SuperChic helped me get it all printed and put up, so it was a team effort. But people seem to be getting excited about it.
Each month we will put a rock from someone's field site up along, pin the map with their field location and then the little page will have a picture of them and something interesting about their research and the rock.
I am hoping it will generate some new interest in the department, because the place is a bit stuffy and outdated. It just needs a bit of a fresh look, cause even an old barn can use a new can of paint every once in a while.
