Rep. Giffords and the tragedy in AZ

For those of you who don't know, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is an active duty military spouse. Her husband is a Captain in the US Navy and she was one of many people shot at a public event in AZ yesterday. As a fellow military spouse, I want to say 1) I am incredibly proud to know that we have an active duty military spouse in Congress and 2)It is an absolute tragedy that some disturbed person opened fire on a crowd and took six innocent lives, with 14 injured. There is no justification for this behavior. There is just no reason to hurt a 9-yr-old girl, no matter how offended you are at your government.
I am really really sad that this happened. There has been so much death and destruction around me this past week, My friend's parents died in a head-on collision on the 1st, so the beginning of 2011 has been a very sad time for all of us. I hope that those who were not killed in this tragedy are able to recover and have good lives going forward, regardless of this tragedy. That is a lot to hope for right now.
At a minimum, I hope that Rep. Giffords knows that she is one of us and we are all behind her and her family at this time. I know there is nothing I can do to make this tragedy better, or go away, but I hope that our thoughts help provide some comfort to each of the families suffering right now. I also hope that this helps people to consider speaking more nicely to each other and remembering that even when they disagree, it is not an excuse to forget that the other person is a human being with unalienable rights, and thus should be treated with dignity and respect. I hope we can all be a little nicer to one another. It seems a fitting memorial to those who suffered so much this weekend.

It honestly makes me sick. I hate that the media use that... thing's... face for the articles. I can't even stand to look a picture of the animal who caused so much pain.
